The Guru Within

The First Guru and Divine Guidance

In India, there is a strong belief that spiritual evolution is impossible without a Guru. This led me to ponder, "Who was the Guru of the first Guru?" The answer came elegantly from Swami Satyananda, who replied, "Lord Shiva." From that moment, Lord Shiva became my ultimate spiritual Guru.

Of course, my parents are your first teachers. My mother, in particular, guided me from childhood until her passing at the age of 93, after waiting patiently for 10 years while bedridden. She was a constant and profound spiritual presence in my life.

Phase 1: The Foundations of a Spiritual Seeker (Childhood to Early Career)

  • Early Life & Curiosity (1960s-1970s): Begin with my childhood in Jabalpur. Describe my innate spiritual curiosity: the Sandhya puja, the practice of Hanuman Chalisa, and my personal connection with deities through photos. Mention my early engagement with yoga and the influential books I read, like those by B.K.S. Iyengar. This sets the stage for a lifelong quest.

  • First Guru & Inner Guidance (1980): Narrate my introduction to Transcendental Meditation (TM). Describe the initial success and the unexpected physical manifestations—the head dropping and hands moving. Frame my TM teacher's unconvincing response as a turning point that led I to the simple, profound wisdom of Mrs. Jain: "The Guru is within." This is the core moment where my journey shifts from seeking external instruction to trusting internal guidance. Detail the immediate, dramatic experience of automatic asanas and pranayama on my terrace. This event is a powerful, personal validation of her words.

  • MD & The Period of Surrender (1980-1981): Describe the "madness" of my final year of MD medicine. Frame this not as a mental breakdown but as a period of profound surrender to my inner guidance. Explain how my voluntary muscles seemed to become involuntary, and how I completed my thesis with an effortless, inner-directed knowledge. This part of the story highlights the tangible, real-world effects of my spiritual practice.

  • Formal Training & Inner Conflict (1981): Discuss my time at the Munger Yoga Ashram. Contrast the formal, disciplined Hatha Yoga training with my own effortless, automatic practice. This demonstrates that my spiritual path was unique and not bound by conventional teachings, a point further confirmed when Swami Satyananda acknowledged my innate knowledge.

Phase 2: The Fusion of Medicine and Spirituality (Late 1980s - 2000s)

  • Professional & Spiritual Integration: Narrate my career progression—from Bhilai to CMC Vellore and then Apollo Hospital, Chennai. Explain how my professional growth in medicine, especially specializing in neurology, was intertwined with my spiritual development. State my motivation for choosing neurology: not just to treat disorders but to understand "para-neurology" or spiritualism.

  • New Modalities & The Black Magic Case (1990-2000): Detail my exposure to alternative therapies like acupuncture, Reiki, and dowsing. Mention my experience with the Iranian patient who died, and how it was casually dismissed as "black magic." This event serves as a pivotal moment, pushing I to explore beyond conventional medical knowledge. The Deccan Chronicle article is a perfect narrative hook that publicly marks my commitment to this path.

  • Hypnosis & Past Life Regression (2000-2002): Describe my training in hypnosis and the influence of Dr. Newton and Dr. Brian Weiss. Explain how their work provided a framework for understanding my previous spiritual experiences.

Phase 3: The Spiritual Calling in Sri Lanka (2002-2004)

  • The First Case & Premonitions: Begin with my move to Sri Lanka, noting my premonition about it. Describe my first case of past life regression for a Ing girl with chronic abdominal pain. This is the first practical application of my new skills and a major spiritual breakthrough.

  • The Brain-Dead Patient: Recount the extraordinary case of the brain-dead lady. Explain how I helped her family communicate with her soul through a medium. This highlights a new level of spiritual ability: guiding a soul's transition and assisting with its karma.

  • Divine Messages & The Headache Case (2004): Describe the "most fascinating case" of the Ing girl with a severe headache. Frame this as the culmination of my journey so far. The direct messages from a divine source, who identified me as a "Father Angel" and spoke of my past, confirmed my spiritual mission.

Phase 4: The Path of Satya Sai & Continued Revelation (2015-Present)

  • A New Chapter: Detail my connection with Satya Sai Baba. Mention the specific cases and dreams that linked I to his teachings. The experiences, such as the Fibromyalgia case, the Foreign Minister, and the IIIT student's dream, are powerful anecdotes that validate this new phase of my journey.

  • Physical & Spiritual Union: Describe my time at SSSIHMS and the profound spiritual experiences I had there. The dream with Jesus, the vision of Lakshmi during Reiki, and the prophetic dreams of Rekha and Boora all serve as continuing confirmation of my path.

  • Practice & Dedication (2022-Present): Conclude by mentioning my rigorous spiritual practices—Guru mantra japa, and my initiation into Kriyayog. This shows that my journey is not just a series of events but a continuous and deepening practice.

Since 2022, my spiritual journey has deepened into a new phase of non-dualistic realization, shifting from active practices to a more profound, contemplative understanding of reality. This last phase of my journey focuses on inner guidance and the direct experience of ultimate truth.

A New Path: From Kriya yoga to non-duality

After my Kriya yoga initiation in late 2022, my practice evolved. While formal Kriya yoga practice was short-lived, I continued to follow my "inner Guru" during morning meditation. This subtle shift prepares me for a deeper, more intellectual and experiential exploration of non-dual philosophy.

My study progressed from the Yoga Vasishta, a text that illuminates the illusory nature of the world through a dialogue between Rama and his teacher, to the foundational principles of the Upanishads and Brahma sutras. This intellectual inquiry was not merely academic; it was a way of confirming and giving structure to the spiritual truths I had been experiencing for decades. My earlier understanding from the Bhagavad Gita, which I listened to in Sri Lanka, provided a perfect foundation, bridging the path of devotion and action with the ultimate goal of self-realization.

The Realization of the "Inner Guru"

This final phase of the journey is a testament to the guidance I first received in 1980: "The Guru is within." The automatic physical practices of my early life, the messages from divine beings, and the insights gained from past life regression were all preparation for this ultimate realization. I no longer need an external teacher or a formal practice to connect with the divine; I have become the instrument of my own spiritual guidance. The boundary between the seeker and the sought has dissolved, and my life has become a living expression of non-duality.
